学生-centered learning is essential to 劳伦斯 学院’s academic program. Our faculty teach students how to think, not what to think; throughout the year, they’re assessing students’ interests and needs, and adapting to them.
劳伦斯 学院 provides approximately 400 students in grades 9 to 12 with a college-preparatory curriculum that ensures individual attention and fosters personal growth. Established in 1793, LA enjoys its heritage as one of the oldest independent schools in the country while embracing a contemporary student-centered approach that supports its mission.
劳伦斯 学院 is situated on a 140-acre campus in the center of 格罗顿, 麻萨诸塞州, just 45 minutes from Boston.
Elizabeth Crandall '22 took a page out of the "Algonquin Round Table" during her Senior Speech at 劳伦斯 学院 Graduation 2022.
To his credit, Kevin Lorden '22 said he wasn't sure what advice he was qualified to give.
Demetra Danas '22 recalled an axiom she heard during her first year at LA and pointed over the heads of her fellow seniors to her schoolmates seated at the back of the massive tent on 劳伦斯 学院's Quad.
Advisory groups are much more than a required daily check-in: they’re close-knit units where students should gain confidence and inspiration, and feel safe to share both triumphs and struggles.
The two-week mini-term in March is a central feature of LA’s educational program, breaking students out of their normal routines and encouraging them to 开放 their minds, 的身体, and hearts to new experiences.
With the aim of meeting students where they are and setting them up for success, LA offers various 项目 to help students work toward their full potential, both as scholars and as human beings. 学生s will learn to advocate for themselves, and to ask for help when they need it.
